When we sat
down with Aaron Carter, we weren't quite sure what to expect. He's been touring
internationally since the ripe age of 10, has five successful albums under his
belt, and can list Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan among his ex-and-quasi-girlfriends.
Gaining all of this achievement before the age of 16, some may wonder, how can
Aaron Carter be a normal teenage boy? We wondered the same, but Aaron proved he
is just that: normal. He just happens to have a better-than-your-average
lifestyle because of his extraordinary talent as a performer.
This summer Aaron took the risk of expressing his talent in a very original
form. Aaron's Jukebox Tour 2003 takes fans back through time as Aaron performs
his handpicked favorites from an array of decades and artists who have been an
inspiration to him. The concerts also feature tributes to Stevie Wonder,
Journey and Michael Jackson. Aaron even shows off his ability to hit all the
extra high notes in the Bee Gees classic "Stayin' Alive." Aaron does a fabulous
job making all of the songs his own, and then closes the shows with some songs
off his last three CDs.
We caught up with Aaron on August 16th when the tour stopped in Wildwood,
NJ. As the opening acts took the stage, backstage Aaron prepared for his own
set while we got all the details on his next album, the tour, and best of all,
he gave us a glance into his love life! Sorry girls, but it looks like Aaron
still has his eye on Hilary Duff!
The Jukebox Tour is so
different from your previous tours and anyone elses's tours for that matter.
Where did the idea for the tour come from and what made you decide to try
something so different?
Well, you know, nobody has ever done anything like this people are used to
people just coming out and doing their own shows and I want to educate people in
old school music…like there’s my Elvis costume right there…yeah so I do Elvis so
it’s pretty cool, it’s a great show.
Of the cover songs you've
been performing throughout the tour, which is your favorite and why?
Ummm…that’s a good question! Uh…probably all of them, I mean, they’re all my
favorite picked songs.
You picked them all out?
Mm-hmm.
What thoughts are running
through your head 30 seconds before you're about to hit the stage?
Be prepared to mess up!
How about the moment the
show's all over?
Where’s the next
show at?
Your tours are always jam
packed with opening acts. Do you get along well with the other artists
currently on tour with you?
I get along well
with them, yeah. They’re all pretty cool, all really nice.
Is there anyone in particular
who's set you like to watch?
I watch Stevie Brock, he’s cool. He’s fun to watch. They’re all good; I always
learn something new from every artist.
Where were you when the
electricity went out this Thursday?
I was in New York City.
Were you scared at all?
Nope. I’m used to
that stuff. Every time I go to New York City something bad happens in New York.
Just recently you
participated in the National Kid's Day festivities at the White House. What was
this experience like?
I’ve been to the White House a couple of times, 3 times now. So it’s fun, I
enjoyed it and I love every time I go there, it’s fun.
Did you get to meet the
president? No, I
didn’t. But, hopefully next time.
It seems that everywhere we
turn someone is discussing your love life, so we're not going to break the trend!
Is your on again off again relationship with Hilary Duff currently turned on or
off?
It’s off right now...soon to be on again.
A June issue of US Weekly
reported that there was a big mess involving you, Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan
at the Vanity Fair cover shoot. How valid was their story?
Lindsay Lohan, was an ex-girlfriend of mine, simple as
that. I don’t like Lindsay Lohan anymore like that. You know she’s…I don’t,
you know, like her like that. And I still like Hilary. [click to hear a

We heard that you'll be
starring in and recording music for a science fiction movie called Future Force.
Can you tell us anything about the movie?
Well it’s going to be out in 2005. It should be cool.
What CD do you currently have
in your CD Player?
America.
Who would you say is the
coolest person you've had the opportunity to meet due to your career?
Probably Michael Jackson. I mean, I’ve met lots of people. I got to meet Jamie
Jamison, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker… Bruce Willis… I’m good friends with him. I
hang out with him all the time.
When can fans expect to see
your next CD in stores? How would you describe the music you're working on for
it?
It’ll be out probably February of next year, and it’s going to be good. It’s
going to be really good.
Thanks for the awesome
interview! Do you have any final messages for your fans?
I just want to say I love all you guys very much and I
hope to see you soon! [click to hear a sound clip of aaron's answer!]
