From
the Beginning:
Aaron Charles Carter was born at Tampa General Children's Hospital in Tampa,
Florida on December 7, 1987. He wasn't alone even at that awkward moment, as he
has a fraternal twin, Angel, who was born just two minutes before him. The twins
were the first of the Carter clan to be born in a Florida hospital, and were
well excepted by their 2 sisters and one brother. (B.J., Leslie, and of course,
Nick). B.J and Nick were born in Jamestown, NY, which is where the family lived
before moving to Florida. Leslie was born in Florida, but not at a hospital! She
was born at the Garden Villa Retirement Home; where the Carter family lived and
worked at the time.
Nick has said "I was excited to have another brother." With 2 sisters
already, who wouldn't be happy to have a new little brother? Until recently,
Aaron and Nick shared a bedroom in the Carter family house in Florida, and both
have said that for the most part, it was good.
Topping the charts:
Aaron once said in an interview with Top of the Pops magazine that Nick actually
asked him if he wanted to sing. "If Nick wasn't a singer, then I wouldn't
be here. He supports me and is the one who asked me if I wanted to sing. I was
interested in performing before, but I think it would have been a lot
harder." Who knows if it actually would have been harder, because since
beginning his musical career at the age of seven as the lead singer in a band
called 'Dead End', he has had more smash hits than any other person his age in
history! Aaron left Dead End after about 2 years stating, "I left, as they
wanted to do alternative music and I wanted to do more pop." He then began
working with a vocal coach, so that he could, as he puts it, "hit the
notes."
In March of 1997, Aaron performed during a Backstreet Boys concert in Berlin,
Germany. He stole the show! After the concert, he was immediately offered a
record contract by an Edel Record Company executive who saw him perform, and in
the fall of 1997, he released his first single, "Crush on You." He
then went on to release "Crazy Little Party Girl," I'm Gonna Miss You
Forever," and "Shake It," all of which became very popular
overseas. Next was his first full length album, self titled "Aaron
Carter." The album didn't hit stores in the US until June 16, 1998, after
going gold in Spain, Norway, Canada, Denmark, and Germany.
Since then he released another single, "Surfin' USA," a remake of the
beach boys famous song. He worked with bands like the Backstreet Boys, The
Moffatts, 'N Sync, and others to make a single called "Let the Music Heal
Your Soul." They called themselves the Bravo All Stars, and donated their
time on the single to benefit the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation,
which helps disabled and autistic children through the use of a specially
developed form of music therapy.
He also has a single on the recently released Pokemon soundtrack. He performed
the single, "(Have Some) Fun With The Funk," on Nickelodeon during the
1999 Big Help Celebration. Thousands of fans in the audience, and an unknown
amount of television viewers got to see him put on a great show!
The Year 2000:
2000 was Aaron's breakthrough year. He release his smash album Aaron's Party
(Come Get It), and a tremendously successful single and video of the same name.
He opened for Britney Spears on the U.S. leg of her 2000 world tour, and he was
also the subject of a biography written by his Mom. Aaron also moved back to
Florida (to the Florida Keys) and made numerous hugely popular and successful
appearances on Disney, Nickelodeon, Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, and Rosie
O'Donnell.
2001 has been a smash hit already! Aaron has already garnered the Favorite
Rising Star award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. He also received rave
reviews for his performances as JoJo the Who in the Broadway hit musical,
Seussical the Musical. His multiplatinum album peaked at number 4 on the
Billboard charts, while he was also ranked at number 52 on Rolling Stone's Hot
100 Artists.
Has all the fame and fortune changed young Aaron? Naah. He's the same loveable
kid he's always been. Asked what makes him the most happy, Aaron responds
gleefully "Making my fans and family happy, and having fun!" And he's
doing a great job at all three!
